Locust Posts

Locust posts

Black Locust, Robinia pseudoacacia, is our largest member of the pea family. It is a pioneer species especially enjoying well drained soils. Honey bees love the blossoms and make a delicious light colored honey.

Wood from black locust is extremely rot resistant, greatly outlasting pressure treated posts without the use of chemical treatment.  Our farmstead still has locust posts in the ground from well over sixty years ago. We use locust posts for all of our outbuildings- like our sugar shack and garden shed!
We sell locust posts for gardens, orchards, vineyards, and hops. We cut our locust over the winter months ready for spring pick up. Posts are cut to 6, 8, 10, 12 foot lengths and are graded by diameter. We keep a small amount of locust lumber on hand as well as locust garden stakes. Call us for pricing. Delivery within a thirty mile radius is a possibility.  Locust is a great environmental choice!

Locust Garden Stakes "My experience with the 1 in garden stakes sold in stores is that they break and often cannot be driven in without breaking. Seems the stately oak should be left alone and and the more weedy locust harvested" - Linda B.
